The Board of Directors of the United Egyptian Media Services Company decided to terminate the contract with the Egyptian journalist Ahmed Schubert and stop his program “With Shoubir”
The company said in a statement, "Violating the company's professional rules and content policies is unacceptable. The United Company places respect for Egyptian public opinion at the top of its priorities."
The company’s board of directors affirmed that “the chaos in the sports media sector requires a decisive confrontation in order to ensure the right of the Egyptian citizen to sports media that respects the truth and strives for honesty.”
The company stressed that it "will not hesitate to deter anyone who deviates from the professional standards to which it has adhered since the beginning of its establishment."
Threats via the program
In his program broadcast on the On Time Sports channel, Schubert had threatened anyone who would implicate his name in the case of former Egyptian national team player Ahmed Refaat, whose death caused controversy over the factors that led to the deterioration of his health, amid accusations that the management of his club Future had committed violations that led to his injury. Under psychological pressure, which affected his health.
Schubert said on his program “With Schubert”: “For the first time I will speak personally on the program, I have been forced to do so. For more than 48 hours, I hear and see very many comments and videos on the subject of Ahmed Refaat, and I am not the type who likes to defend himself because I am not in Accused."
He revealed that legal measures will be taken against everyone who spoke about the issue, and he considered that Egypt's fair judiciary is the decisive factor.
Schubert was serving as vice president of the club at the time these incidents occurred, which led to the finger being pointed at him and both former club president Ahmed Diab and current president Walid Dabas, who in turn resigned from the club presidency two days ago against the backdrop of escalating anger in the sports street against the club’s management.
Open an investigation
The Ministry of Youth and Sports in Egypt had announced an investigation into all the circumstances and examination of all documents related to the travel of the late player Ahmed Refaat, due to what was recently raised in the media regarding the presence of suspicions of administrative and legal violations that marred the player’s travel outside the country.
The Minister of Youth and Sports, Ashraf Sobhi, issued a decision to form a committee of specialists in the ministry to carry out the work of examining and reviewing all documents of the Modern Sport Club (formerly Modern Future), the Egyptian Football Association, and the Egyptian Olympic Committee in this regard.
The Ministry confirmed in a statement that it will announce the conclusions of the investigations in this regard as soon as the committees finish their work on all the details and circumstances.
