The Israeli Broadcasting Authority revealed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is planning to appoint New Hope Party leader Gideon Sa'ar as a replacement for Defense Minister Yoav Galant, whom Netanyahu may be heading to dismiss soon.

It is an indication of the extent of the divisions between the government and the military establishment, in addition to the escalating disputes with the religious parties against the backdrop of the decision to recruit the Haredim.
فمن هم الحريديم؟
The name "Haredim" is the plural of the word "Haredi", which means "pious" in Hebrew. They are strict Orthodox Jews who follow the Torah in their beliefs.
They consist of different communities, each centered around a “rabbi,” that is, an important religious authority in Jewish law.
Their number in Israel reaches 1.28 million, representing 6.13% of the total population.
Many of them opposed the establishment of the State of Israel and do not usually participate in national celebrations.
Israel provides them with broad independence in education.
The group opposes the recruitment of young people into the army, arguing that their religious studies are more important.
In this regard, Amir Oren, defense editor at Haaretz newspaper, stated that the founders of the State of Israel were clear in their approach. They were inspired by Winston Churchill's example when establishing the Ministry of Defense by assuming the Ministry's portfolio himself.
In a similar context, Netanyahu sought to achieve similar goals by assuming the position of Defense Minister in addition to his role as Prime Minister.
Gallant feels important for several reasons. Firstly, this dates back to 13 years ago when Netanyahu wanted to vote to appoint him to the position of Chief of the General Staff, but he was unable to implement his appointment due to the pressures he was exposed to at the time. In addition, last year, Netanyahu announced his intention to remove Gallant from his position, but he faced challenges that forced him to temporarily retract his decision.
Regarding the war in Gaza, there were no major differences between Netanyahu and Gallant at first.
Gallant stands with the military in confronting Netanyahu-led politicians over the hostage exchange deal, the ceasefire, and the ongoing escalatory strategy adopted by Netanyahu. Most Israelis oppose this strategy, fearing for the safety of detainees.
The current situation may lead to the idea that Netanyahu may once again seek to dismiss Gallant due to these significant differences in positions and policies followed between them.
The war did not achieve the goals set by the State of Israel, even though nine months had passed since the conflict continued.
Netanyahu does not want to admit defeat, so he imposes impossible conditions to ensure that Hamas does not agree to the deal and key terms.
The army high command, led by General Herzi Halevy and supported by Defense Minister Yoav Galant, opposes Netanyahu’s approaches, and this position is shared by most of the Israeli people, as I mentioned previously.
Netanyahu will face greater risks if he decides to fire Gallant.
Reappointing Avigdor Lieberman or assigning Gideon Saar to the Ministry of Defense enjoys limited support within the Knesset.
If Gallant is dismissed and a number of Likud members in the Knesset vote with Gallant, the government will collapse.
Netanyahu cannot fully rely on the support of Gideon Saar or Lieberman; He needs broad support from members of the Knesset to maintain the stability of his ruling coalition. However, Gideon Saar will not have the ability to rescue Netanyahu in such a situation.
