German football star Toni Kroos officially bid farewell to the world of football on Sunday, with an emotional message, two days after the dramatic Machinery team's defeat by Spain in the quarter-finals of the European Championship (Euro 2024).
The winning goal scored by substitute midfielder Mikel Merino in the last minute of extra time gave Spain victory by two goals to one, crushing the dreams of the host country and writing the final chapter in Kroos’ football career.
Cross wrote in a post on “Instagram” on Sunday: “This is the end then... but before I take a rest and at least try to realize what happened during the past seventeen years, I do not want to miss the opportunity without saying thank you to everyone who accepted me.” as I am".
Kroos, who was a member of the machinery team that won the World Cup in 2014, also thanked his fans, the clubs he joined, his coaches and his comrades, as well as his friends and family, adding that “there is nothing better than seeing your children proud of their father.”
