The match between Argentina and Morocco in the football competition within the Paris Summer Olympics resumed, two hours after it was controversially halted after some Moroccan fans invaded the field in Saint-Etienne on Wednesday.
Everyone thought the match had ended in a 2-2 draw, after Argentina scored a late goal in the 16th minute of stoppage time, but the entry of the fans prompted the referee to stop it.
After about two hours, the referee canceled Argentina's second goal due to offside after resorting to the video assistant referee and decided to complete the remaining minutes of the match.
The Moroccan Olympic team gave a heroic performance and advanced 2-0, before Argentina equalized in the 15th minute of stoppage time, in an “incredible” scenario that made the large Moroccan fans who attended in Saint-Etienne cry.
The Moroccan Lions performed wonderfully, and dominated the Tango team throughout the match, and advanced with two goals through Al Ain’s Emirati top scorer, Sufyan Rahimi.
But Argentina came back with a goal by Giuliani Simone, before Cristian Medina scored the equalizer in the 15th minute of stoppage time.
The referee of the match sparked controversy by adding a full 15 minutes, after the end of 90 minutes, which sparked the anger of the Moroccan fans in the stands, prompting the referee to stop the match.
The second group in the Olympics includes, in addition to Morocco and Argentina, the Iraqi national team and the Ukraine national team.
