The Kirkuk Governorate Police Command announced on Sunday the lifting of the curfew imposed since yesterday evening, Saturday, following violence in the governorate that left four dead and 14 others injured.
The police command stated in a statement that the curfew has been lifted and traffic will return to normal. The Erbil road has been opened and the tents erected on the Erbil-Kirkuk road have been removed.
Yesterday, Saturday, Kirkuk Governorate witnessed demonstrations demanding the opening of the road with Erbil, which was blocked by a group who staged a sit-in in front of the advanced headquarters of joint operations in Kirkuk, demanding that it not be handed over to the Kurdistan Democratic Party based on the political agreement between Erbil and Baghdad and the decision of the Iraqi Prime Minister in this regard. .
