Trump added before the Republican Party convention in Milwaukee: “I knew immediately that it was very dangerous and that we were under attack,” but “I felt very safe because God was on my side.”

Regarding North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, the Republican candidate believes that he "misses him" in an attack on the foreign policy of the current leadership of the White House.

Trump said: "I agree with him, and he might want to see me again. I think he misses me."

During his previous presidency, Trump met the North Korean leader personally.

On Friday, Donald Trump praised Corey Comperatore, the firefighter who was killed during the failed attempt to assassinate the former US president last Saturday at an election rally in Pennsylvania.

During his speech at the Republican Party convention in Milwaukee, a Comperatore jacket and helmet appeared and were placed on the stage near Trump.

Trump devoted part of his speech to talking about Comperatore, where he said: “He loyally lost his life when he served as a human shield to protect those present at the election rally from flying bullets.”

He added: "He was a good man," and asked the audience to stand "a minute of silence in honor of Comperatore."

Comperatore was standing behind Trump when the bullet fired by the young man, Thomas Matthew Crooks, missed the former US president, wounding him in the ear, and went on to kill Comperatore.

Trump praised the police and Secret Service forces who protected him after the failed assassination attempt, saying: “The Secret Service soldiers were great when they prevented my assassination attempt.”

He continued, saying: "I was lucky to survive the assassination attempt. I might not have been with you in this conference had I not been saved. God was by my side."

He thanked "the Americans who supported me and supported me during the attempted assassination incident."

Trump revealed that he had raised $6.3 million for the families of the victims who fell during the attempt on his life.
